There have been some pretty sweet deals on concert tickets this summer. Earlier this year, you could get that lawn pass to get into almost every concert at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre for $200. More recently, there was a deal to get $25 tickets for dozens of shows at several Tampa area concert venues.

There’s good and bad news. The bad news is you missed out on both of those deals. They’ve since expired. However there’s the good news. Even without much fanfare or promotion, there are still 9 great shows coming to the Tampa area this summer that still have decent tickets left for $40 or less. You won’t be in the front row. But for most of these concerts, your view will be pretty good.

When you consider shows like Aerosmith at Amalie Arena will cost you hundreds and hundreds of dollars just to sit in the nosebleeds, finding deals like this in 2023 are rare! In order from cheapest to most expensive, here are the 9 shows I’d suggest for the rest of 2023.

  • FREE: Cheap Trick

You can’t beat free. The first performance at The Sound, the new concert space at Coachman Park in Clearwater, will be cheap. Literally. Cheap Trick will be the first to take the stage tomorrow night (June 28). You do need a ticket to get in. They were snatched up quickly online. The City of Clearwater reps though tell me that there will be standby seats set aside that will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Also with the layout of the new Coachman Park, if you want to hear the music, just bring a blanket and relax on the lawn. You won’t see the stage, but I’m told you’ll hear the music no problem. Check out my pictures of the new Coachman Park and The Sound here.

  • $18.75: Bret Michaels from Poison

There’s a little bit of a catch with this one.  To get the $18.75 price, you need to buy 4 tickets.  But hey grab some friends and have nothin’ but a good time.  But it’s not just lawn seats you can get cheap for this show.  I found seats in Section 13 starting at $25.  Not bad at all.  Plus you’ll see Night Ranger, Jefferson Starship, Steve Augeri from Journey and Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray. This one’s at th e MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre August 4.

  • $25: Boy George & Culture Club

Not only do you get to see Culture Club, Howard Jones (“Things Can Only Get Better” & “No One Is To Blame”) and Berlin (“Take My Breath Away” & “No More Words”) are on this show too.  You can find seats on the side in Sections 11 & 17 for $25 or be closer to the middle in Sections 12 & 16 for $40.  The show is at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre July 15.

  • $29.50: Foreigner

It’ll be your last chance to see the band in Tampa. The Historic Farewell Tour comes to the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds July 9.  Loverboy will open the show.  Choose lawn tickets for $29.50 or seats in Sections 12 & 16 for $39.50.  (I’d pay the extra $10 personally.)

  • $30: Lynyrd Skynyrd

Sure the band is full of replacements, but you’ll still have fun.  And ZZ Top is along for this tour.  I saw my first show without Dusty last year at the Hard Rock Events Center in Tampa.  While Dusty is missed, the band still sounded great.  You can still find seats for this show at the Amp in Sections 11 & 17 for $30, but I’d spend $10 more for seats closer to the middle in Sections 12 or 16.

  • $30.50: Matchbox Twenty

Would you believe we’re still seeing rescheduled concerts from COVID?  This show was originally scheduled at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre back in 2020.  See Rob Thomas and the guys July 8.  Couldn’t find any great deals under the pavilion, but lawn seats are $30.50.

  • $35: Sam Hunt

It wasn’t long ago tickets were going for 5 times as much to see this guy.  Country fans are always mixed when it comes to Sam.  He has a lot of fans who aren’t necessarily country music fans.  This one’s at the Amp too.  You can still get lawn tickets for about $35 but I’d spend $6 more to get seats under the pavilion.

  • $40: Chicago

The legendary GRAMMY Award winners with dozens of iconic hits will play The Sound at Coachman Park in Clearwater.  There are seats left in Section 204 for $40.  And it’s for a good cause. Proceeds benefiting the Moffitt Cancer Center and Morton Plant Mease Hospital.

  • $40.50: Zac Brown Band

OK I’m breaking my $40 rule with these next two, but the Zac Brown Band always puts on a great show.  The cheap tickets for this show at the Amp November 4 are only in the lawn area.

  • $41.50: Freestyle Explosion Throwback Jam

OK I might be a little biased on this one given that I’m hosting the concert.  But hey… you get almost a DOZEN acts in one night for cheap!  This year’s lineup at Amalie Arena features performances by Stevie B, Taylor Dayne, Rob Base, Debbie Deb, Shannon, TKA, and more.  Tickets at $41.50 you’ll find in the 200 level.  They curtain off the 300s so you won’t get a “nosebleed” seat no matter where you sit.
