Here are 7 menu items you need to try at Portillo’s.

Tampa and Brandon residents have been enjoying the Chicago-style food for years now. The Brandon location opened in 2016. The Tampa restaurant opened a year or so later. There’s even a Portillo’s now inside Amalie Arena. Now, it’s our turn Pinellas.

Portillo’s is now open at 2302 Tyrone Blvd N. in St. Petersburg (near the Tyrone Square Mall). The new location has a retro vibe with some Florida palm tree flavor mixed in. Take a look inside – we got invited to take a peek!

I love going to Portillo’s. So I thought I would share with you the menu items that you NEED to try. Some may be obvious, but some may surprise you.

  • Jumbo Hot Dog

    If you really want to get a feel for what it is to be a Chicago-an, get the Chicago Jumbo Hot Dog. Not the chili dog, not a regular dog. Go for the one with the tomatoes, the peppers, bright green relish and celery salt on it.

  • Big Beef

    Big version of their Chicago Beef Sandwich. Make sure you get the giardiniera. I like to get it dipped, it’s an absolute mess to eat but so worth it.

  • The Combo

    This is so you can get a bit of everything. This comes with a beef sandwich with an Italian sausage in it.

    One thing you would probably not think to get there is the regular burger. Char-broiled with fresh lettuce and tomato. Simple and done really well.

  • Chocolate Cake

    If you have a sweet tooth, their chocolate cake is one of their specialties. But wait, there’s more. They liquify their chocolate cake and put it into a Chocolate Cake Shake. MUST TRY!
