A Florida Man bitten by a shark while spearfishing thought it was going to be the end for him. Thankfully, a friend came in and saved the day!

The scary incident happened off Key West, Florida. There have been several shark attacks already this year, many of which we talked about on Dave & Chuck The Freak. However, the details to this story are a bit extra and give a glimpse into what it’s like to be involved in a shark attack. Learn more below.

Florida Man Bitten By A Shark While Spearfishing

This is something straight out of a nightmare. Imagine being attacked by a shark and thinking, “this is the end for me.” Unfortunately, that’s what happened to one man in Key West. Once the shark attacked, he realized he was over powered and there wasn’t much he could do. Was this how he was going to meet his end?

Jose Abreu (not that Jose Abreu) was spearfishing off Key West when he was reportedly attacked by a bull shark who swam up and bit him multiple times. Abreu remembers the attack telling WSVN-TV, “He’s too fast, he’s too fast. I only say that this is the end for me.” According to Yahoo! News, the attack took only 13 seconds but the bull shark was able to bite him on the leg and shoulder and attempted to chomp down on his chest. That very well could have been the end for him. The 8-foot shark was so powerful he knew his only option was to try to escape.

Thankfully, escaping wasn’t the only option for him. A friend who was in the water with him was able to swim up to the shark and jab it in the mouth with his speargun, per Yahoo! News. This was able to scare the shark away and they were able to get help.

Now, Abreu is expected to fully recover from his injuries. He thanks his friend for saving his life. What a scary moment! Check out a video report from WKMG below!
