Are You In The Right To Freak Out If An Airline Double Books Your Seat?
Do you have the right to freak out if an airline double books your seat? That’s a trending question on the internet right now.
It all stems from a viral video of a man who had this happen to him. Typically, we tend to side with the airline and staff when it comes to customers starting arguments on a plane. However, this case could be different. I think I’m on his side? Read more on this trending story below.
Customer Freaks Out After Airline Double Books His Seat
This happened on an Avianca flight from Los Angeles, California to Bogota, Colombia. According to The New York Post, an irate customer caused a scene on a flight after refusing to leave the plane that he was double booked on. In the video, he’s seen asking if his money is worthless to them and he already paid for the ticket. Reports say he even bought his ticket three months ahead of time! Airlines can do that? It’s not his mistake! It’s theirs! I think I’m on his side here.
He’s probably in the right to freak out. What’s he supposed to do? Just casually accept that the trip he paid for won’t be happening? That would be unacceptable. It would be incredibly hard to get me off of that plane.
A passenger on the flight recorded the viral video on their phone. At one point, the man even sees the camera and exclaims, “I hope I become famous!” That’s when staff threatens to call the police on him and he seems to welcome it and hopes prosecutors come down as well so he can file a report. Eventually, he decided to leave on his own accord out of consideration for his fellow flyers, per The New York Post. On his way out, he even received a round of applause.
