Have You Considered Porn-Inspired Vagina Surgery?
According to The New York Post, the cosmetic procedure known as labiaplasty is now one of the fastest growing procedures for young people in Australia and worldwide. What is it? Basically, it’s the removal or altering of tissues from the labia which are the folds of skin on either side of a person’s vaginal opening, per The New York Post.
Porn and social has given people unrealistic body standards and now people are struggling to keep up. They see a vagina in a porno and start to worry that theirs doesn’t look like that and take action to get it fixed. Even though it was a perfectly normal one to begin with! Just like we’ve seen unrealistic beauty standards with our face and body the same thing can happen with our genitals.
A new study dubbed Real Bodies: Understanding and Celebrating Labia Diversity surveyed 1,030 girls, women, and gender-diverse people from ages 18 to 50 about their attitudes towards their own genitalia. Roughly a quarter of those surveyed said they felt anxious or unhappy about the way their labia looked. Meanwhile, 35% said they associated negative words with their labia like “weird,” “disgusting,” or “ugly,” according to The New York Post.
Now, more people than ever are considering (and getting) the procedure. It’s tough to compete with what we see on social media and in porn but we have to remember that what we see online and on TV isn’t always reflective of reality. What do you think? Have you considered getting this done or would you?
