Does America Have A Porn Addiction?
Does America have a porn addiction? There’s also gambling, alcohol, and drugs to worry about but is porn our biggest problem?
There are a number of things out there that you can get addicted to. There’s alcohol, gambling, drugs, social media, your phone, food, and more. However, a new study says that America could have a porn addiction epidemic. Here’s more on the findings below.
America Might Have A Porn Addiction
According to Sabino Recovery, which is a leading addiction and mental health treatment facility in the United States, America has a porn addiction. It’s much more significant than we thought. Parts of the data and findings are pretty shocking!
Sabino Recovery analyzed Google Search Data relating to America’s favorite vices like porn, gambling, and alcohol to see what the country is struggling with the most. To find their results, 58 common addictions were run through Google Keyword Planner with the template “[addictive activity] therapy” and “[addictive activity] therapy” and “[addictive activity] addiction.” That way they could see what the most popular searches were attached with those terms. It’s an accurate way to gather data, so it’s legit.
When all was said and done, porn was clearly in first place with an average of 30,749 searches per month nationwide. To put it in perspective, alcohol placed second at only 9,057 searches on average per month. So, porn is 3X more searched than the next addiction. Gambling then comes in third with 6,128 searches per month, per Sabino Recovery.
Does America Have A Porn Addiction?
According to Sabino Recovery, “porn addiction recovery” was the most Googled term relating to this issue with 14,849 searches per month on average across the country and “porn addiction therapy” places second.
Regarding the findings, Co-Founder and CEO of Sabino Recovery says, “The findings reveal significant trends in public health concerns and underscore the urgent need for effective support and resources. This data not only highlights the widespread nature of these issues but also reflects a growing societal awareness and willingness to seek help. Addressing these addiction-related challenges is crucial for improving overall well-being and fostering healthier communities.”
It makes sense why the results would end up this way. Porn is popular and is continuing to grow in popularity. You’ve got more ways to view it than every before thanks to the internet and newer developments like OnlyFans. At the same time, I feel like we’re going to be Google’ing “porn” much more often than “alcohol” so it makes sense that it would be on top of the list. People don’t tend to search the internet for alcohol when they can go out and buy it.
