It’s no secret that Tampa has a lot of outdoor activities, which is why it ranked #4 in Best Cities for Recreation. St. Pete made the top 20 and was rated at #18. One of the things that make our city so great is that we have a lot of resources put into our city parks to promote healthy living. Wallethub recently compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across 47 key metrics that speak to the benefits of recreational activities. For each city they examined living costs, the quality of parks, the accessibility of entertainment and recreational facilities and the weather. And we know that Tampa has the best weather, despite those pesky afternoon showers.
Neighborhood trails and parks are great for staying active while maintaining a budget. Research even shows that having a park within 500-600 feet if your home can significantly increase its value. Which is just one of the factors that make home buying in Tampa a little difficult. Our city has done a fantastic job of creating family friendly parks and active spots all around the Bay area, it even had a score of 77 (out of 100) in that category. Another reason why Tampa ranked so high on the list is because of the amount of recreational opportunities we have to offer when the rain or heat gets in the way of staying outside.
What are some of your favorite ways to stay active around Tampa? Do you like to head to Yoga in the park, or go biking on Bayshore? Either way we never take our beautiful city for granted! See how other cities in the U.S. compared to our slice of paradise.
