  • Game 1 – Houston Texans at San Francisco 49ers, Sunday January 2nd

Yes, we are all aware of Jimmy G’s thumb injury that he played through last week in the loss to the Titans. He says he is “confident” he can play through it again and I’m confident in him handing the ball off all game. If he is unable to go, Trey Lance would step in and the game plan should remain unchanged.

The Texans are almost dead last in the league at stopping the run allowing 141.3 rushing yards per game. Look for Kyle Shanahan to get creative with his Top 10 rushing offense as he always does.

The 49ers are also in the middle of the playoff hunt, needing this game or their playoff chances take a major hit dropping them into the thick of the wild card race. The Texans coming off a big win last week against the Chargers are in a classic let down spot.

I look for the 49ers to run away with this one by getting back to their run game and put themselves in great position to secure a playoff spot.

PICK: 49ers to COVER the spread (-12)

BEST PROP: Deebo Samuel Anytime TD

I know you are probably thinking why take a wide receiver to score when I just went on about the 49ers running the ball. This is where Kyle Shanahan’s creativity in the run games comes into play.

Deebo is often shadowed by the other team’s best corner so utilizing him in the run game allows the 49ers to get their most dynamic player lined up in plus matchups.

The proof is in the numbers here as he has more rushing touchdowns (7) than receiving touchdowns (5) this year. Those 7 rushing touchdowns have him in the team lead.

Deebo finds the endzone either from the backfield or the air in this one, always nice to have both those options going for you.

  • Game 2 – Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys, Sunday January 2nd

Two teams trending in complete opposite directions meet up at Jerry’s World with major playoff seeding on the line. The Top 5 teams in the NFC are separated by just two games and these two teams are in that mix.

The Cowboys offense found their stride last week against Washington with a very impressive performance while the Cardinals are running out of options. They are already without Deandre Hopkins and James Conner and Rondale Moore are game time decisions.

The Cardinals offense has struggles to move the ball recently with 12 and 16 points in their last two games and this Cowboys defense is not one you get right against. They have not allowed more than 20 points in their last 4 games, winning them all.

Look for more of the same from these two teams this week. Cowboys win by at least a touchdown.
