My Favorite South Florida Junk Food Is In St. Pete This Week

You still have time to devour some truly awful things before those New Year's resolutions ruin your life. And the timing couldn't be better. My favorite South Florida junk food spot is coming to St. Pete for 2 days this week. What do they serve? Hold your arteries. Deep fried cheesesteak eggrolls dipped in a ranch sauce with a sweet and sour kick. Yep, it's a heart attack just waiting to happen. I found "World Famous" on a Yelp search during a Fort Lauderdale visit years ago. The little to go restaurant isn't even in Fort Lauderdale. It's tucked way in a strip mall in Lauderdale Lakes. You'd never notice it from the street. Word of mouth has made the place, well, famous. These cheesesteak eggrolls are as good as they look and sound. You have many options. There's a seafood, pulled prk, beef brisket and buffalo chicken egg rolls, wings, and lemon pepper fries. I've tried all of them... nothing compares to that cheesesteak eggroll. I don't like the coating they put on their french fries. The wings were just ok to me. It's really all about that cheesesteak eggroll. The thing you've got to order with your cheesesteak eggroll There's an important component you can't leave out when you get the cheesesteak eggrolls from World Famous. You can skip the fries. But don't under any circumstances forget to ask for extra "Ying Yang" sauce. As if a fried cheesesteak eggroll wasn't unhealthy enough, the real magic happens when you dip one into this creation called Ying Yang sauce. One side of the sauce cup is white. The other side is red. The white side is a ranch style sauce. The red is sweet. The combination of all those flavors is what keeps me going back every time I'm driving to Miami or Fort Lauderdale. My favorite South Florida junk food spot has clearly become "world famous." This was the line when they came to Tampa earlier this year. Where in St. Pete will they be? The World Famous food truck will be set up at 150 22nd Street South in St. Petersburg today (December 17) and tomorrow (December 18). There will probably be a line. Even though they're based in South Florida, the word has spread. I take partial credit, I've been raving about these things on my radio show and Geno Ate Tampa podcast for years. They'll start serving at 10:30am and stop when everything sells out. They are not up here often, so skip breakfast this morning and don't worry about supper tonight. You'll still be full.
