Tampa has it all: Great weather, awesome sports teams, stunning beaches, amazing restaurants. We've seen Champa Bay on these lists before, so it's no wonder why Tampa ranked so high in the 50 best places to live in the U.S.
So what makes a city so great? Well Money.com focused on these nine factors:
- Cost of living
- Diversity
- Economic opportunities
- Education
- Amenities and activities
- Health and safety
- Housing market
- Income
- Quality of life
Tampa wasn't the only Florida city to make the list, but it was the only Florida city in the top 10. Altamonte Springs, an Orlando suburb ranked at number 33. Ten spots behind it was Sarasota at number 43. Here are the top 10 places to live in the U.S.
#1. Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta ranked #1 because of its booming job market and diverse walk of life.
#2. Tempe, Arizona
Tempe made second on the list for its active arts and culture scene, relative affordability and employment opportunities.
#3. Kirkland, Washington
This Seattle suburb as a family-friendly, community-focused town with great schools and employment opportunities.

#4. Raleigh, North Carolina
Known as the City of Oaks, Raleigh boasts lush green space, with more than 9,000 acres of parkland and tons of amenities.
Rogers Park, Illinois
Rogers Park is known as the most diverse neighborhood in Chicago.
#6. Columbia, Maryland
Columbia is the second most populated community in Maryland. Known to be a very safe city with a multicultural population.
#7. Somerville, Massachusetts
The home of marshmallow fluff back in the early 1900s. Now, the town of 79,000 celebrates annually with its fun and quirky “What the fluff?” festival.
#8. Ann Arbor, Michigan
Not just a college town. There’s also a flourishing arts scene, a growing number of breweries and wineries, a year-round farmers market and an active downtown scene.
#9. Tampa, Florida
Money.com calls Tampa a combination of action-packed and affordable. We think the amazing weather, cultural activities, and great sports teams should put it higher on the list. But maybe we're biased.
#10. Jersey City, New Jersey
