It's that time of year again! Lightning is out there and it's all around. You have to be careful! 4 Kentucky women are reportedly lucky to be alive after being struck by lightning while vacationing on Marco Island, Florida. The group of women were staying at the JW Marriott Beach Resort and it started as a nice and beautiful day--but then things changed. See a video report shared by Gulf Coast News below.

One of the women, Danielle Sturgill, tells Gulf Coast News, "The rain started coming down. There was, there was no thunder. So I was just trying to take shelter until the rain subsided. And we got under the tiki and that's when it happened." Danielle and her sister, Taylor, and their 2 friends were struck by lightning. They were all reportedly knocked unconscious, per Gulf Coast News.
Thankfully, people from the resort ran to help them. The women were not directly struck by the lightning but the tiki hut was hit which likely sent a powerful ground current through the sand, per Gulf Coast News. They were taken to a local hospital to treat their injuries. Afterwards, they got matching tattoos to remember the special but scary moment by. As if they had a chance of forgetting it?
They're now heading back home to Kentucky. You can imagine it might be a while until they're ready for another beach vacation.
