A hot air balloon ride ended in tragedy after a man plummeted to his death after he saved 2 other passengers. This is a nightmare scenario.

It happened over the weekend during a Mexican festival. The horrific incident was caught on camera and shows a person dangling from the bottom of the hot air balloon while incredibly high up in the air. All the while the hot air balloon is smoking and continues to float higher and higher. The man was able to help 2 others escape in a heroic move, but was unable to save himself. You can see a video of it shared by @CollinRugg on X (formerly Twitter) below.

Man Falls To Death On Hot Air Balloon Ride

According to Collin Ruggs on X, Secretary General Rodrigo Reyes said, "I regret to inform you that during the First Balloon Festival, part of the Enrique Estrada 2025 Fair organized by the city council of this municipality, a person lost their life after an unfortunate incident while aboard the hot air balloon."

Commenters all seem to be in agreement that they would not go on a hot air balloon and I can't blame them! No way you're getting me up there. I've seen far too many accidents on hot air balloons. I want no part of any of it.

This incident happened in Zacatecas, Mexico. Our thoughts go out to the man and his family and loved ones.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
