Rock hunting is a hobby you might not be very familiar with, but it's bigger than you'd think. Chuck probably knows more about it than the average individual due to his interest in metal detecting. I imagine this is similar, but you have to use different tools because the rocks aren't metal so a metal detector won't do much good. A man got stuck in deep loose sand while rock hunting and now it's being used as a learning moment for others. Quite embarrassing to end up in that situation though!

Captain Chase Schelling of Leland Township Fire and Rescue tells Up North Live, "This is not anything that in recent history we can remember responding to here, but we trained for all sorts of stuff. Our first arriving truck responded from the Leland station, arrived on scene in about 2 and a half minutes, found a patient stuck up to their waist in very deep loose sand, kind of a muddy sand."

That man who got stuck in the sand while rock hunting is Mitchell O'Brien, per Up North Live. Sounds like he was rock hunting and hit a soft spot and sunk into the sand to his waist. You have to imagine it would be pretty difficult to get out of that. O'Brien tells Up North Live, "It was very quick. I had time to turn around and get my cell phone out of my pocket. That was pretty much it. What really got me stuck was my left foot went straight down." Thankfully, his friend Breanne Sika was with him and started trying to get him out but the sand kept pulling back.

They ended up having to call 911 and firefighters quickly arrived on scene. They were able to safely get O'Brien out of the sand uninjured. Sounds like a romantic relationship might have started between O'Brien and Sika during this drama as well. Things like this can really bond you and bring you together! The dispatcher referred to him as her girlfriend and sounds like she didn't put up much of a fight about that.

Be careful out there! Shifting sands can produce sinkhole or quicksand-like situations, according to Up North Live.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
