Look, we all have behaviors that can be deemed childish. Perhaps you still like watching cartoons. Maybe you still enjoy your favorite lunch from when you were a kid. Additionally, you could still sleep with a stuffed animal. It might sound funny, but this is no laughing matter. It's much more common than one would think!

A survey from Build-A-Bear says that 40% of American Adults still sleep with a stuffed animal. That's 4 out of 10 people! Is it me or does that seem very high? Granted, when I step back and think about it, it could make sense. I have friends who don't like to admit it but still sleep with their "stuffy" from when they were little. I even dated a girl who still sleeps with her same tattered "blanky" from when she was young. Sometimes, these things can be hard to get rid of. They can be comforting and nostalgic. In some cases, there's no hope or chance that you can remove the stuffed animal or blanket from their life. It would lead to a full-on adult tantrum.

According to Business Insider, 30% of respondents said a feeling of comfort was the first memory that came to mind when thinking about a childhood stuffed animal. Additionally, adults living in the Southern United States are most likely to still have a stuffed animal, per Business Insider.

Dr. Shefali Tsabary tells Business Insider, "As children develop independence from their parents, they still yearn for a secure bond with something. In many cases, children turned to stuffed animals, including teddy bears, to help them through this transition. As we enter adulthood and leave home for the first time, it's no surprise that the same object re-enters our life, providing comfort while also helping us work through feelings of uncertainty as we transition into a new life stage." Just like we thought! It makes sense. If it makes you comfortable or helps you sleep the more power to you! It's not the weirdest method people have tried to help them sleep, after all.
