Firehouse Frontman CJ Snare Passes Away in Florida
The news came out over the weekend, that CJ Snare from the 90’s band Firehouse had passed away. CJ and other members of the band once called Tampa Bay their home.
Firehouse’s History In Florida
Originally formed in Richmond, VA, and Charlotte, NC, Firehouse House had hits in the 90s like “Don’t Treat Me Bad”, and “Love of a Lifetime”. Members of the band relocated to Sarasota, FL for a few years in the 90’s.
Lead singer CJ Snare stayed in Florida until his untimely death last week. Snare was currently living in Celebration, just outside of Orlando, and also lived in Pinellas Park for a few years.
Firehouse’s Early Days in Rock N Roll
Firehouse and frontman CJ Snare were no strangers to success. Originating from Richmond, Virginia, these American rockers hit the ground running. In 1989, they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, and signed to Epic Records.
From their early days in the 1990s, the band hit their claim to fame with hit singles including “All She Wrote”, and most notable power ballads like “Love of a Lifetime” and “When I Look Into Your Eyes”.
In 1992, Firehouse beat out bands Nirvana and Alice in Chains to win the award for Favorite Hard Rock New Artist. Throughout the decades, the band has continued to tour internationally selling over 7 million albums worldwide.
They’ve had 16 Gold & Platinum Records, 2 Billboard Hot 100 Top 5 Hits, 4 Billboard Hot 100 Top 25 Hits, 7 Billboard Hot 100 Top 100 Hits, and claimed many more accolades. Their music has been featured in network TV shows, major motion pictures, and video games.
CJ Snare’s Cancer Diagnosis
Back in 2020, Snare was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. In 2021 he went for a second opinion and had a “life-saving operation”. CJ started having more issues last spring and went in for another surgery this past October.
Snare had been recovering in his home here in Florida, following his surgery this past October. Snare was expected to rejoin Firehouse back on the road this coming summer.
Unfortunately, CJ Snare unexpectedly passed away in his home Friday night from cardiac arrest. Snare was only 64 years old at the time of his death.
