‘Aquaman 2’ Opens To Terrible Reviews
It’s like something straight out of HBO’s Entourage. The first Aquaman movie is massive, followed up a disappointing sequel. Aquaman 2 has opened to terrible reviews online.
We weren’t given a lot of good movie options this holiday season. One of the only releases we got this year was Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Unfortunately, the reviews for Aquaman 2 on Rotten Tomatoes are incredibly bad.
‘Aquaman 2’ Opens To Terrible Reviews
The DCU clearly had high hopes for the movie. That’s why you choose to release it during the holidays. Well, that didn’t happen.
The Jason Momoa led movie currently has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 36%. That number seems to be falling, as well.
The movie is a sequel to 2018’s Aquaman. Despite Jason Momoa being one of the biggest stars on the planet, the movie is not being received well.
Here are some of the poor reviews the movie has already received since opening in theatres, per Rotten Tomatoes.
Bad Reviews For Aquaman 2
“Jason Momoa’s performance, like Chris Hemsworth’s as Thor, provides diminishing returns (has muscles, makes jokes, flicks hair), while the overuse of CGI would put a charging rhino to sleep” (Times UK)
“Lacking the sense of discovery and world-building that powered the original, director James Wan settles for a sort-of misguided buddy comedy. Whatever the intent, this doesn’t feel like the answer to lift superhero movies out of their slump.” (CNN)
“It’s a rather long two-hours. That seems especially true for Nicole Kidman, who looks truly, truly pained to be involved with this project.” (Silver Screen Riot)
Good Reviews For Aquaman 2
However, not every review for the movie was terrible. There were some good ones! Admittedly, there were much more negative ones. But some positive ones were found! Here are some good reviews from Rotten Tomatoes.
“The movie is clever enough, and plenty scary, and there is a sufficient number of jokes to keep the whole thing from getting too self-important.” (New York Times)
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom still stands as a well-oiled blockbuster that delivers something unique when compared to other recent DC movies.” (Discussing Film)
“Proves Hollywood hasn’t forgotten how to have fun with its franchise tentpoles. In fact, the film’s whole-hearted embrace of comic book ridiculousness may just be the shot in the arm the genre needs right now.” (Next Best Picture)
Is it me or are the “good” reviews not even that good? Seems like this isn’t the feedback DC wanted for the movie. They’ve already been struggling and this is going to be hard to shake.
