Tampa Is The Best Place To Retire In The Country
The Sunshine state is the ideal spot for many retirees. A new survey put out by Wallet Hub proves that there’s one city retirees are honing in on. Tampa, Florida. Tampa is the best city to retire to.
The Wallet Hub study looked at a variety of factors. How affordable is the city? What is the quality of life like there? Is good health care available? What kinds of recreational activities can retirees partake in? What are the crime rates like?
What makes Tampa so special that it ended up earning the top spot as the best city to retire to? Tampa’s total score was 59.93. Tampa was fifth in activities and 26th for quality of life. Florida, in general is more affordable than other states. If you’re a retiree looking for dining choices, you will find them in Tampa. Plenty of great spots and early bird specials.
“Best City To Retire To” Rankings
It was a nice move for Tampa this year, jumping past Charleston to earn the top spot. This year Scottsdale came in second place. When you look at the top five cities that made the list you’ll see Scottsdale, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, and Miami. Scottsdale didn’t exactly get high marks for affordability, but the city scored well as far as quality of life goes. I can see that. The scenery is absolutely beautiful there. Although, it is so dry. I’m imagining retirees not appreciating senior citizens not really appreciating the dry air.
I’m also a little surprised to see Fort Lauderdale and Miami ranked so high. Both cities are uber expensive and in my opinion, hard to navigate as far as transportation goes. Orlando earning the third spot makes sense to me. And Orlando likely scored well because there is so much to do there what with all the theme parks and fun attractions to choose from.
