Kanye West’s Twitter Account Is Back With Gold Check
Kanye West’s Twitter account is back. The rapper’s Twitter account was suspended last year after sharing a photo of a Nazi swastika embedded inside the Star of David. The post has since been deleted.
On Saturday, Ye’s account was reinstated “after receiving reassurance that he wouldn’t use the platform to share antisemitic or otherwise harmful language,” the Wall Street Journal reported, citing an anonymous source.
Elon Musk, who owns X (formerly known as Twitter), has not made a statement following the rapper’s reinstatement.
As of Monday morning (July 31) Kanye has not posted anything new since he had his Twitter account back.
In December 2022, Kanye’s account was suspended for the second time after the anti-semitic post. However, it was not the first time the controversial musician had a social media account suspended, including his Twitter. Back in October, the Yeezy founder’s Twitter was suspended for a racist tweet as well as was his Instagram account. The rapper’s Instagram account was restricted after he posted an exchange allegedly between him and Diddy. Users called out the rapper for using language that portrayed an antisemitic remark.

Due to Kanye’s antisemitic remarks, many companies including Balenciaga, Vogue, and Adidas, have severed ties with the musician.
Due to the loss of companies willing to work with the rapper after these racist remarks, Ye claimed he lost his billionaire status. One of the biggest losses Ye received from this social media tirade was his relationship with Adidas. His Adidas partnership was terminated on October 25, 2022 –among other business relationships that have dissolved following his anti-Semitic remarks, per Forbes.
Adidas first partnered with West in 2013. They expanded their relationship in 2016. At the time, it was called “the most significant partnership ever created between a non-athlete and an athletic brand.”
Without Adidas, Ye is worth $400 million, Forbes reports. “The remainder of Ye’s fortune, Forbes estimates, comes from real estate, cash, his music catalog, and a 5% stake in ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear firm, Skims,” the publication noted. It added that a source close to Skims told Forbes “Ye hasn’t been involved with the brand since its 2019 launch.”
Adidas has since begun reselling Yeezys but will be turning a portion of the profit to George Floyd’s brother’s foundation Philonise & Keeta Floyd Institute for Social Change. They will also be donating to the Anti-Defamation League.
