Dog Breaks a World Record
Meet Rocky and his record setting tongue! He’s already broken the record for world’s longest tongue on a living dog,!
If you’re thinking to yourself, “didn’t we just talk about this?” The answer is: yes! Well, sort of. It was a different dog. Earlier this month, the Guinness World Record for longest tongue on a living dog was set by Zoey, , a Labrador/German shepherd mix, with her 5-inch tongue. Well, she wasn’t even reigning for a whole month before being dethroned!
Enter Rocky, a 9-year-old Boxer from Illinois, who shattered Zoey’s record with his tongue that measured in at 5.46 inches!
Rocky’s owners, Brad and Crystal Williams, say that it has always been obvious to them that their dog had an above average tongue. Their own suspicions were often confirmed by strangers who would meet Rocky and comment on his record setting tongue. Still, the Williamses never considered that the fact that Rocky could possibly set a world record. That is, until they happened to see a previous record holder on a TV special.
When Crystal discovered that the previous record holder, Mochi, had passes away, she thought Rocky would stand a chance to take the title. Williams reached out to Guinness World Records to apply for the record on Rocky’s behalf. They sent veterinarian Dr. Bernard Bleem very specific instructions for how to measure Rocky’s tongue. the resulting measurement of 5.46 inches was enough to take the record that Zoey – the Lab/Shepherd – had inherited from Mochi.
While allegations of Rocky’s status as a “good boy” have not been confirmed, we confidently assume that he is!
