According to The Hillsborough County Sherrif’s Office, a 15-year-old girl was walking through the campus at The University of South Florida on Monday when a man in a car pulled up beside her. The driver reportedly asked for directions, but seemed to have a difficult time understanding the girl. Turns out, the man was not lost at all.
Authorities from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office say Lutz resident 52-year-old Keivan Tavakoli drove his car up to the young girl and asked her for directions. When the girl answered the suspect’s questions, he asked her to repeat herself several times. That’s when she noticed that the man had exposed his sexual organs to her. He was also touching himself inappropriately. The girl immediately left the area and reported the incident to police.
That could have been the end of the story had it not been for a series of cameras that monitors the entire campus called Eye On Crime. Those cameras caught the suspect cruising through the campus several times leading up to his interaction with the victim.
Sheriff Chad Chronister didn’t mince words when he spoke about the incident, saying “The crime itself is sickening enough, but this was someone our community relied upon in their time of need. A trusted source of care, that’s what makes this situation even more abhorrent.” Chronister went on to say that the Eye On Crime system absolutely helped them identify the suspect. He went on to praise the girl for her bravery in reporting the man to authorities, and detectives for their quick apprehension of the suspect. The suspect was employed as a doctor at Access Health Care in Spring Hill, Florida at the time of the incident. He now faces charges of lewd or lascivious exhibition. He posted $7,500 bail and remains free on bond until his court date. Source: WFLA.com
