Rick Nielsen is sitting out more Cheap Trick shows while he recovers from a medical procedure he had in November.

In a joint statement from the band, they said, “Six weeks ago Rick had a procedure that has required him to stay off the road until fully recovered. Unfortunately, Rick still needs a little bit more time and will not be out with us this week. Robin Taylor Zander will be moving to lead guitar for the next two shows. We appreciate the continued support.”

Nielsen began sitting out of Cheap Trick shows on November 4. At the time, the band said the guitarist underwent a “minor procedure that requires him to stay off the road for this week and not travel.” Since then some shows were postponed or Robin Taylor Zander filled in. Cheap Trick has yet to disclose what kind of procedure Nielsen had.

Cheap Trick has two more shows to close out 2022: They’re scheduled to perform in Sahuarita, Ariz. on December 9 and in Indo, Calif. on December 10.
