“Chonky” Squirrels Spotted in Michigan!
Super chunky squirrels are taking over at the campus of University of Michigan. The campus usually has a fairly large population of the squirrels but recently these “chonky” ones seem to have taken over.
Pictures of these chubbed up squirrels have been popping up all over online and on Reddit. Including some that compare them to the size of a tiny dog! You check out a couple below.
To my #UMich alum/student followers: Have you seen these chonky squirrels across campus? I want to hear from current students on what they are feeding these chonks, as well as alums on if they can remember the squirrels being this huge.

Even though these chonky guys are cute and may get you a few likes on Instagram, animal experts warn it’s not the best thing for the animals. They are getting this big because people are feeding them food not part of their natural diet.
Feeding squirrels can make them dependent on people for food, which then makes them more comfortable approaching people and could lead to unsafe interactions.
