Now is the perfect time to extend your family by four paws! The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is waving adoption fees for dogs over 30 pounds. From Tuesday, October 4 to Friday, October 7 all dogs that weigh 30 pounds or more will have their adoption fee waived. The Humane Society is so full they are no longer accepting any strays or surrenders until further notice.
Maybe you’re not ready to fully adopt, or have a home full of pets already, fostering may be right for you. Fosters are also needed for the overflow of animals at the shelter. Open your home for an animal while they wait to find their fur-ever family.

Ian had caused flooding in Bowling Green Animal Control in Hardee County, so a HSTB volunteer sprang into action. The volunteer drove down and rescued 6 dogs and 14 kittens. The Humane Society is also a distribution point for the Greater Good Charities to provide food and supplies to shelters for those impacted by Hurricane Ian. If you’re looking for another way to help out, consider donating at HSTB.
Right now the shelter is asking for basic supplies such as:
- Pet food & Treats
- Water
- Toys
- Dog beds
- Leashes
Pro tip: Instead of going to Petsmart to grab all of these donatable items, consider buying these supplies at the Humane Society’s store. All of the money spent inside the HSTB store goes right back into the shelter!
