First, don’t freak. If you are flying in or out of Tampa International Airport today, you may hear or see some crazy stuff. There may be noises, people moving around quickly or other odd circumstances. Rest assured that the bizarre behavior can be attributed to training exercises being done by the TSA.
The announcement came down from TPA yesterday, saying “multiple casualty” training is being carried out all day today. The Federal Aviation Administration requires large airports to conduct training evry three years to help them better respond to major happenings. It’s not just the airport that’s involved, either. Over 30 local, state and federal agencies are taking part in the huge process, which hopefully better prepares everyone for the worst of possible situations. Fire departments and firefighters from Hillsborough and Pinellas counties will be at the airport until most of the day today. One runway will be closed during the training, but it will not affect air travel. So, here’s your reminder to stop, take a breath and chill. It’s all just an effort to make your travels safer.
