L.A. Strippers Want To Form A Union and Tampa Could Be Next
A group of dancers at a Los Angeles strip club are organizing a union.
Dancers at the Star Garden Topless Dive Bar in North Hollywood have petitioned the NLRB to form a labor union.
If successful, they would be the only active strippers’ union in the U.S.
They’re teaming up with the Actor’s Equity Association (AEA), which represents more than 50,000 professional actors and stage managers.
AEA president Kate Shindle says strippers were “live entertainers” who “have much in common with other Equity members who dance for a living”.
Since Tampa is considered the “strip club capital of the world”, could our dancers be next to unionize?
