First Openly Gay Player in NFL Signs With the Bucs
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, free agent pass rusher Carl Nassib, who previously played for Tampa Bay in 2018 and 2019, has agreed to a one-year contract to join the Buccaneers.
Nassib made history by playing in a regular-season game as the first openly gay player while spending the previous two years with the Raiders.
“I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I’m gay. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while now but I finally feel comfortable getting it off my chest.”

The Buccaneers want Nassib back on their defense since they are familiar with him. To make the roster, he will have to beat out players who spent the entire offseason with the Buccaneers, but his background playing defense under head coach Todd Bowles offers him a strong chance to contribute this season.
