Kid’s First Day Of School Pics Are Dangerous
We’ll be seeing them all week, pics of our kids and grandkids as they head back to school for the 2022-2023 season. There are dangers to posting pictures of your kids online, however. Information is revealed that you would not normally give. School locations are named, grades are mentioned. Even the casual observer can find out where your kids go to school, what grade they’re in, their teacher’s names and other private information. The Sarasota Police Department wants you to know that risks are involved with exposing private info in a public forum.
Authorities say predators are always looking for new ways to have access to your children and school pictures contain lots of personal information. A popular tradition on the first day of school is to pose their children with a sign that commemorates the day, complete with name, age, grade, school name, and in certain cases, even their classroom location. Sarasota police say when you post pictures of your kids online, make sure that no personal information is revealed. Don’t post pictures that show an address, a bus stop location or a license plate. Predators can add up small bits of information to identify your child’s activities or location. Source: WFLA.com
