Enjoying Florida’s nature could be dangerous.
A 73-year-old woman was injured when a sailfish jumped out of the water and stabbed her with its bill.
Authorities say Katherine Perkins was aboard a fishing boat off the coast of Stuart, Florida when the 100-pound creature charged the boat after getting caught on a line.
Perkins had no time to react and was impaled in the groin. Two mean aboard the boat kept pressure on the wound until she could be flown to a hospital.
Sailfish can grow up to 10 feet long and are known for their sword-like bill and giant dorsal fins.
