There’s no crying in golf…is there?
It was an emotional scene at the U.K.’s St. Andrews golf course on Friday as Tiger Woods broke down in tears when he failed to make the next round.
Woods’ outburst occurred on the 18th hole, when he realized he wouldn’t make the cut to continue in the British Open this weekend. After wiping the tears from his eyes, Woods completed the game, finishing with a score of plus-9.
“I don’t know if I’ll be physically able to play another British Open here at St. Andrews,” the 46-year-old Woods said after Friday morning’s meltdown. “I certainly feel like I’ll be able to play more British Opens. But I don’t know if I’ll be around when it comes back around here. So, the warmth and the ovation at 18, it got to me.”
