The Miami Police Department is being sued by Samuel Scott Jr. after he says 5 police officers arrested him for stealing his own car. Scott says he contacted the police to report his 2006 Jeep stolen. The man noticed the vhicle had bene stolen when he left a relative’s house after a short visit. Scott reported the theft and police responded. When they arrived, they found Scott sitting in his Jeep. That’s when Scott says officers questioned and arrested him instead of searching for a suspect. As the arrest happned, Scott insisted that the vehicle was his and that he had reported the theft himself. He said police refused to listen to his explanation and arrested him regardless. Turns out, scott matched a description of a suspect in the area. Scott was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, filing a false report, failure to obtain a concealed carry license and possession of marijuana. Scott’s attorney says his client reported the Stolen Jeep only to be racially profiled when they authorities arrived on the scene. Source: BINNews.com
