The law changes everything.

At first glance, it looks like a win-win for the Seminole Tribe and for Florida-but a new app that allows off-site gambling has been shut down shortly after it started. A federal judge has intervened and stopped sports betting in our state.

According to WFLA, the judge declared that betting would violate current laws with the Seminole Tribe. Just a couple of weeks ago, the Seminole Tribe launched a brand new sports betting app, which allowed people to bet online on events throughout the state.

The app is called Hard Rock Sportsbook, and it was built so Floridians could place bets on events across the entire state wherever they are. The judge says the app is illegal because it allows gamblers to do so when they are not on Native-American property.

Until the app, betters had to be on-site to wager on sporting events. Although, sports gambling in Florida was legalized last month, the judge’s ruling signifies a battle lies ahead.

In the meantime, the judge also has reinstated a previous pact with the Seminole Tribe that is to be extended until 2030. That means online betting could be rendered illegal for many years.

The judge concluded by saying that online gaming could still happen as long as the activity occurs while on Tribe land.

Sean Roberts was conceived in the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky by two passionate, panel aligning, third shifters who had grown bored with the same ole same ole. Upon birth, he was placed in the trunk of a new Stingray and sent off to find his destiny. That destiny included several stints on radio stations across the United States. Some played punk country gospel, while others focused on Croatian death metal played backwards. After many years and many adventures, Sean wound up on The Shark, where he does shots of tequila while playing the most badass tunes ever created by humankind. He remains humble, however, never forgetting about the lean years...the street corners and dark alleys where he played songs on his car stereo for food and sex. He's on top and he's never gonna stop LIVING THE DREAM!
