It was a brutal takedown that shook the entire Saints season up. Devin White performed a horse caller takedown that caused Jameis Wintson to land awkwardly and tear his ACL and damage MCL in the left knee. Devin White says it was not intentional and that he and Jameis have talked about it.
The NFL however doesn’t care that there was no bad blood between the former teammates as they have made a decision on the tackle that stops the former Buccaneers Quarterback. White was fined $15,450 for two unnecessary-roughness infractions: a horse-collar tackle as well as a $10,300 for a taunting whistle in the fourth quarter.
#Bucs LB Devin White was fined twice — for the horse collar tackle that left #Saints QB Jameis Winston with a torn ACL last week, as well as roughing the passer and taunting on separate plays.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) November 6, 2021
Unsportsmanlike Conduct: $10,300
Unnecessary Roughness: $15,450
The penalties gained from Devin Whites’ misconduct have been attributed to the Buc’s 36-27 loss to the Saints. Devin White has accepted responsibility for the takedown and the taunting.
