Tampa Bay area Olympic swimmer wins another gold!

Bobby Finke brought home a gold medal tonight (7/31) 1500M Freestyle!  The 21 year old Florida Gator surprised the world coming from behind in the men’s 800 meter freestyle and did the same tonight coming from behind in the last 50M of the race. This is the first gold in this race for Team USA in 37 years! On top of that, Team USA took the gold in both the men’s and women’s 1500M Freestyle.

The watch party to see the Tampa Bay area Olympic swimmer at the North Shore Pool in St. Petersburg even got some screen time on the prime time Olympic coverage on NBC.

Before college, Bobby swam for the St. Petersburg Aquatics club team. Born in Tampa, Bobby’s parents are also accomplished swimmers. At just 14 years old, he was setting records. He graduated from Countryside High School in Clearwater.
