Tampa Needs More Fire Stations As City Continues To Grow
As Tampa continues to expand as fast as it is, the need for more fire stations continues to grow.
Tampa has been a hot spot in Florida as people are looking for a new place to live. As more people move here I thought the biggest things to worry about would be:
- Schools
- Economy
- Traffic
Well, there is another thing that is very important when more people populate a town: Fire Stations. Tampa firefighter, Joe Greco, told city council members the department is way behind in keeping up with growth. Yikes! In that same meeting they addressed the fact that there is no fire station in the Channelside Area. That is shocking because that part of Tampa is growing the most and still growing with high rise apartments popping up. Officials say the city of Tampa gets 1.1 million calls to 911 every year, and that number will only grow. Greco suggests that four new fire stations should be built at various locations around Tampa and that would cost $32 million. Here’s to hoping the budget will be approved in the fire stations favor…
