Police say a 74-year-old man drowned on Sunday while looking for a lost golf ball in a pond at a country club north of Tampa.

Hermilo Jazmines, 74, of Lutz, was looking for his ball in a pond off the third green at East Lake Woodlands just after 7am.

His body was discovered in the water a short time later.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the death does not appear suspicious and friends they spoke with say he liked to “search the course for lost golf balls.”
