Metropolitan Ministries has doubled the amount of aid to bay area residents this year due to COVID-19 and its impact on our citizens. The coronavirus has devastated millions of lives in 2020. This week, Florida will almost certainly pass the 1,000,000 mark for confirmed cases so far. Many of those affected are your co-workers, friends and family here in the bay area. Last week, we all celebrated surviving the crap storm together with Thanksgiving. Now it's time to reach out to others and show them it's all gonna be okay. Giving Tuesday is offically the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It was created in 2012 to help those in need. The causes range from cancer research to animal shelters...really any cause you'd like to help. At its core, it's an opportunity to do good in the world. This year has seen the roughest conditions yet for many people. From the pandemic to lost jobs, 2020 has proven to be the most exhausting year in many of our lives. If you are not in a position to donate money, you can always buy some extra food and donate it directly to local shelters via your grocery store. They will take care of everything. You can even donate your time by volunteering at a homeless shelter or food bank. A special fund has been set up to make donations easy and safe. Just go to GivingTuesday.org and insert the name of your preferred charitable organization. You can also check out a charity in advance by hitting up the BBB website, where they will help you check the validity of any charity and things to check before giving money. - Sean Roberts
