LOS ANGELES - MAY 8: Pitcher Charlie Haeger #49 of the Los Angeles Dodgers throws a knuckle ball against the Colorado Rockies on May 8, 2010 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

Former MLB pitcher Charlie Haeger’s body was found Saturday on a trail along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.  Local authorities say it was from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound.

The 37 year old was also a suspect in the shooting death of his 34-year-old ex-girlfriend the previous day in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Haeger was a pitcher for the Chicago White Sox who was drafted in 2001, according to mlb.com, which reported that he played 83 innings in the major leagues. He was also on the rosters of the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
