Downward Spiral for Travis Meeks From Days of the New
Do you remember Days of the New? WOW!!! What a great band. “Shelf In The Room”, “Touch Peel and Stand” were just a few of their hits. Lead singer Travis Meeks was a star. 17 years old when the band first broke. Toured with Metallica. Then things began to unravel.
He then appeared on a show called Intervention because of a bad drug problem. I had often wondered how this guy made out after that show. I ended up running into him at the radio station I was working at around 2008. He didn’t look that great and was scratching a lot, but said he was clean.
I have many friends in the music industry who told me they or someone they knew tried to help him, but they just couldn’t seem to get through to Travis. Now just a few months after his arrest(some, nothing said or reported about this guy, who 25 years ago, looked like he was on the path to become one of rocks biggest stars. It seems Meeks was busted in Arizona for being drunk in public causing a problem. The mugshot tells the story and a sad story for sure.
