ABC Action News reports that Tampa residents might have more restrictions coming to fight the spread of the coronavirus. In a press conference, Mayor Jane Castor said the city may issue a stay at home order if Governor DeSantis doesn’t do so first. That means non-essential businesses would be forced to close. But essential businesses would remain open – that includes grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, restaurants (delivery and takeout only), and obviously hospitals. Tampa city officials meet at 1:30pm Monday to make the call.
The Department of Health says there were 763 positive cases as of Saturday here in Florida. 12 have died from complications. 5 University of Tampa students have tested positive for the virus. Mass testing could start in the day or two in the parking lot of Raymond James Stadium or the Florida State Fairgrounds, according to Fox 13.
