July 19th is the 25th anniversary of Marilyn Manson’s debut album Portrait of An American Family.  While the album’s production was less-than polished, it was the United States’ first official taste of what the controversial shock-rocker had in store.

Portrait gained a cult following with songs like “Cake and Sodomy”, “Get Your Gunn” and “Lunchbox.”  The album would slowly climb to gold status thanks to Nine Inch Nails’ frontman Trent Reznor’s guidance in remixing the songs before release.
