About 300,000 people make their way to Bayshore Boulevard for the main parade of Gasparilla in the afternoon after a morning full of mimosa’s and rum filled drinks. With so many people coming to town from outside the Bay, there is always bound to be chaos, and you need some Gasparilla survival tips from the pros! Even those who have been to the parade for years make rookie mistakes on the big day. Make sure you make it through the day (at least to after the parade) with these Gasparilla survival tips. ~ “It’s not a race, it’s a marathon”

START EARLY

The Invasion starts at 11:30 in the morning with the parade to follow and various parties happening throughout the day. Traffic will start getting crazy as early as 9 a.m. and will not slow down throughout the day. Give yourself time to find parking and/or walk to your destination.

PROTECTION

The weather looks breezy and nice with mid 60s all day, even though it will be chilly the sun will still be shining bright in the sky during the parade. Don't forget to apply that sunscreen and pack waters to stay hydrated.

SNACKS

You might have eaten that big breakfast or brunch but when the parade makes its way to where ever yo u are, you might feel a rumbly in your tummy. ESPECIALLY if you are drinking an alcoholic beverage, it will be smart to carry some snack(s) but don't go over board. Get it, over. board. Pirates?

WHERE TO PARK AND STAND

Park by MacDill or Howard and walk to where the parade starts its course.

Park in Ybor or Channelside if you’re into the busier parts of Gasparilla. Use the trolley!

TIP: From previous experience its always nice to get a spot on Ashley Dr. in front of Curtis Hixon. It has a great view with A LOT of shade. Let's keep that a secret between us..

HAVE CASH ON HAND

Charity Beer Gardens and Event Vendors accept cash only! There will be ATM’s throughout the parade route to help you out, however we would suggest having it ahead of time.

Be careful, take it easy and most importantly HAVE FUN!
